EnGenius Dual Band Wireless AC1750 Outdoor Access Point, Omni-Directional Antenna, Long Range, IP65, 5dBi, 29 dBm, (ENS1750) Description

Model:AC1750 Product Description Extend your wireless coverage to the outdoors with the high-powered ENS1750, an 802.11a/b/g/n/ac 3×3 long-range Dual Band Wireless AC1750 Outdoor Access Point with speeds up to 450 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz and 1300 Mbps on the 5 GHz frequency bands that functions as a stand-alone Access Point or as part of an EnGenius Electron Series Solution of mix-and-match business-class networking products. Configurable in a number of operation modes, this robust outdoor Access Point can support a wide variety of applications, making it ideal for small-to-medium sized companies that wish to provide outdoor access to the company network for their employees or to provide network and/or Internet connectivity via a companys existing broadband connection. Operating on both the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequency bands and supporting 802.11a/b/g/n/ac standards, the ENS1750 features wireless speeds up to 450 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz and 1300 Mbps on the 5 GHz frequency bands and a Gigabit port for connecting to 802.3at-capable PoE Switches. Over the weekend and into this week I have been doing field testing and putting it under duress. So for it has held up incredibly well. I was very impressed with the quality of construction. It feels like a solid unit. I went onto EnGenius’s website and they had a bunch of YouTube videos to help setup and also implement best practices. Within 10 min I was fully up and running with no issue. Speeds have been fantastic and range has surprised me. It has gone much farther than any other wireless router of access point I have used. It feels to me like a unit you set it and forget it. Yesterday there was a HUGE rain storm and I am made sure I connected to it during that and it worked flawlessly. I think this unit is going to work great for bringing internet pool side for me. I will update this post as time goes on. But right now I am happy customer!Read more 9 people found this helpful Helpful Comment Report abuseTodd5.0 out of 5 starsI’m impressed! It has grreat range and simple setup if you have some networking experience.September 6, 2016Model Number: AC1200Verified PurchaseMy Setup:I’m using at ASUS RT-AC5300 router. From the router I have 25ft of Cat7 to the POE Injector. On the other end of the POE Injector is 50ft Cat7 ( to the EnGenius AC1200 Access Point. The Access Point or “AP” is mounted to the outside of our second story window using suction cup handle normally used for surfboards ( Three zip ties hold the suction cup handle to the Access Point and I trust that this thing won’t go anywhere. If you do the same setup, make sure to thoroughly clean your windows with something like rubbing alcohol before mounting. The Results:While this is omnidirectional, the way I mounted this you are getting more of a 180-200 degree of coverage. At 50-75ft out I was still getting 25-35Mbps down, when my internet tops out at 80-90Mbps down. I should make note that I live in a Townhome complex, with all 3 story units, lots of trees, and this AP is competing with 20-30+ wifi networks… and still the connection is very stable and strong. It really wasn’t until I was near 100ft and outside of the 180 degree of coverage did the connection started to struggle and or drop. If I had a long distance that still was line-of-sight, I’m sure this would function perfectly at 200ft away. Sadly I don’t have that environment to test that.Other Thoughts:I like the scheduled ‘Auto-Reboot’ option. A reboot once a week or every other day helps so many things so it’s a feature I wish my router had. Firmware on the other side of things is one area of concern. The last firmware release was Dec 10, 2015 which mean that either this device is nearing or at the end of its ‘supported’ life or it’s just a perfect device. Obviously no device is perfect, so 9 months without a firmware might be something to consider if you like having the latest and greatest. And lastly, ‘Beamforming’ is not a feature offered here as far as I can tell. From my experience Beamforming seems to really help when the AP or Router are not line-of-sight of the device connecting to it. For this AP, I notice that when I was testing it ‘inside’ my 3 story home on the second floor, it just didn’t have that same connection strength going up or down a floor when compared to my router. Yes my router ASUS RT-AC5300 is twice the cost of this AP, and yes I know these devices are built for very different environments, but the difference I noticed in penetrating and routing the signal around object like walls, flooring, etc, was rather noticeable. I do wonder how much better this AP would be if it had Beamforming… take note this AP still does a great job without it, when used outside. In Summary:Even in crowded environments, this unit is solid and very simple to setup in my books. I would not recommend this for a non-technical person, but if you know how to follow simple steps and grasp the basic of networking, you can’t go wrong with this device. I really recommend to keep this device mounted as high as you can get it to improve your range. As well, since I’m new with POE, my research pointed out that high quality Ethernet cables are a must. Running older Cat5 are like to encounter more problems… so just don’t do it. I know Cat7 is overkill, but if you are going to install Ethernet cables, don’t cheap out and get the best so it is more ‘future-proof’. As well keep the POE injector closer to the AP (Access Point). Personally I should have had the longer cables from the router to the POE Injector and then the shorter from the POE Injector to the AP, but since it worked as is I left it alone. Apparently it puts less stress on the POE Injector if the power has less Ethernet cable to go through, likely because there is less electrical resistance in shorter cables.Like I said before, this is a good solid device if you need quality long range coverage outside. I recommend it!Read more 4 people found this helpful Helpful Comment Report abuseSteve STop Contributor: Golf5.0 out of 5 starsGreat signal and speedMay 20, 2016Model Number: AC1750Verified PurchaseI wired this to my main router and mouted under an eve outdoors to flood my backyard with wifi. Not only works in the backyard but a fair amount in the house behind the unit, turns out it is omnidirectional. Software setup is easy and I get 120mb on the 5g radio.Read more 9 people found this helpful Helpful Comment Report abuseFR4.0 out of 5 starsWorks as intendedSeptember 7, 2018Model Number: AC1750Verified PurchaseNeeded to get wireless access to a different building in a larger complex. Based on reviews etc. the Engenius AP seemed to fit the bill and the costs. Installation was a bit more tricky than I thought. I followed the instructions of the little manual and got some help via the youtube video they had. That was fine…but it would have been nice to have a full manual in the box. The final steps weren’t as intuitive as expected. Like pushing ‘save’ to save your settings don’t save them (they just ‘keep them for the final ‘save’) etc. Calling tech support at one point showed their 800 numbers is no longer used and calling the number in CA gives you an answering machine and the promise they call you back. Well, 5 days later, I’m still waiting. Fortunately, I figured it out and all is working. So..5 stars for the products…1 for tech support/customer service.Read more One person found this helpful Helpful Comment Report abuseJack orders a lot.1.0 out of 5 starsFactory reset accidentally overridden rendering unit worthlessJune 8, 2018Model Number: AC1750Verified PurchaseI have had this unit for just 6 months. It was not especially easy to program, and the. Instruction manual is poorly written. I have programmed 15-20 Engenius products too.. There is one major design flaw that has pretty well destroyed my unit. If you accidentally change your password and don’t remember it and check a box that says set default to user, you cannot get to factory default by resetting.. It will forever prevent you from resetting to factory defaults. In this case a reset only brings you the option of figuring out what you alredy forgot, not what pw was out of the box. This apparently happens a lot if you research options on line. So now my unit is a $200 brick. I have never had a unit without total reset to factory override…this one is an expensive first. Other than that it had good coverage, but i cannot make any user adjustments forever.Read more Helpful Comment Report abuseAmazon Customer5.0 out of 5 starsReal World Speed Results, Pretty Good UnitMay 22, 2018Model Number: AC1750Verified PurchaseInstalled the unit as a simple AP by means of 50’ of Cat 7 connected to an AT&T gateway, this was needed to get Internet out to my guesthouse 125’ away. Unit was installed on a pole 12’ above ground level and was pointed directly at the guest house. Gateway speed before the AP was 95/22 down/up, AP speed standing just below the AP was 95/22 (no loss), 125’ out with clear line of sight AP speed was 90/22, AP speed 170’ out behind the guesthouse (4 walls between me and the AP) was 34/18, AP speed inside the guesthouse was 49/21.When I 1st set this up I was having a problem with the signal just completely cutting off when you were further than 100’ from the AP. The cause was that I didn’t change the RSSI setting from the default to -100 dB, once I did all my devices stayed connected without an issue and speed dropped based on distance. The AP has only been in service for a few days so we’ll gave to see how it holds up, but so far so good.Read more One person found this helpful Helpful Comment Report abuseSee all 39 reviewsWrite a customer review Set up an Amazon Giveaway Amazon Giveaway allows you to run promotional giveaways in order to create buzz, reward your audience, and attract new followers and customers.
