Joy Berta is executive director of Long Island Opera, and a seasoned performer of the Arts.     Ms. Berta, a public relations specialist and opera singer, is committing her talents, skills, and dreams to revive Long Island’s oldest opera company in existence. She believes the Arts are a key role in building and strengthening communities, and knows the grave importance of keeping opera alive, vibrant, and accessible.

As an artist, Ms. Berta’s extensive experience ranges from performance in film, television, theater, music, and dance. Ms. Berta has lived the past ten years in New York City pursuing her passion for the arts, and has achieved recognition for her unique talents, most recently in opera. She has received awards as Starmania Female Vocalist of the Year in Las Vegas; and Miss Springville and Miss Utah Talent Scholarships. Ms. Berta, originally from Hawaii, graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism, a minor in French from Utah State University, and studied at the University for Foreigners in Perugia, Italy.

Genevieve Brown, Treasurer

Genevieve Brown has dedicated her career to working with nonprofits and local communities. Ms. Brown brings with her experience in marketing, fundraising, and governance as well as a love for the arts. She holds a MPA in Nonprofit Management from Brigham Young University’s Marriott School. Currently Ms. Brown is the Executive Director for IVPA, a nonprofit association and runs her own consulting business. She is especially excited about working with LIO.
